KAPIT: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Hulu Rajang has been chided for holding its annual general meeting (AGM) at Rumah Gawan Tuan, Lepong Baleh, without the permission of longhouse leaders.

Tuai Rumah Gawan Tuan said he was surprised the party had held the recent AGM at the longhouse without his knowledge.

“My longhouse is not a political longhouse.
We don’t stop people from coming to our longhouse but if they hold such an important meeting like an AGM, then they should have informed me of their agenda to seek permission from myself or the JKKK (village security and development committee).

“Bear in mind, my longhouse isn’t a political longhouse and none of my people were involved in the meeting,” he said.

Gawan added that Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Billy Abit Joo is still the area’s elected representative.
“We support him because he can deliver projects and look after our interests.

There is no change until the current parliament is dissolved.
We support the government of the day,” he stated.

On Monday, PKR Hulu Rajang chairman Frankie Bedindang Manjah told reporters that the division had held its AGM at the longhouse last Sunday.- BORNEOPOST
